Handball is a ball game developed by combining the characteristics of basketball and football. It is played with hands and scored by scoring goals with the ball.
Time stipulation
The handball match time is divided into first and second halves, each lasting 30 minutes; the rest time in the middle is usually 10 minutes. Each team has one timeout in the first and second half (only if the team has the right to hold the ball can it get the timeout opportunity, that is, submit the timeout application card to the scorer's table), and the timeout time is 1 minute.
If the two sides are tied at the end of the normal game time and the competition regulations require that a winner must be decided, the decisive period will be played after a 5-minute break. The decisive period consists of two 5-minute periods, with a 1-minute break in between (the two sides exchange venues).
If the game is still tied after the first decisive period, the game will take place in the second decisive period after a 5-minute break. The second decisive period is still two 5-minute periods, with a 1-minute break in between. If there is still a tie after the second decisive period, a 7-meter penalty throw will be made to determine the winner. That is, each team will send out 5 players to throw penalties in turn; if it is still a tie, a 1-on-1 penalty throw will be conducted until the winner is determined.
Personnel regulations
Each handball team consists of no more than 12 players. Each team must have no more than 7 players and must have a goalkeeper. At the start of the game, each team must have at least five players on the field. However, during the game, if the number of players on a certain team on the field is reduced to less than five, the game can still continue. Only the referee has the right to decide whether to terminate the game.
In a handball match, all players must enter and leave the field in their own team's substitution area: substitutions by both sides do not need to be approved by the scorer's table or the referee, as long as they abide by the principle of first down and then up in their own substitution zone.
